First Materials 4.0 CDT Summer Conference

The 1st of July saw the Alan Turing building at the University of Manchester play host to the inaugural Materials 4.0 Summer Conference. The event involved an exciting half-day bringing together our first cohort of PGRs students, their supervisors, CDT co-investigators, industrial sponsors and invited speakers.

Ending our first year of training

The final residential training week of year 1 ran 10-14 March. Cohort 1 PGRs enjoyed a week of thought-provoking training led by Centre staff, academics, and industry collaborators.

Our multi-institutional CDT is engaged in training a new generation of digital materials scientists who are prepared to adopt a materials informatics framework, combining capabilities from risk management, materials modelling, artificial intelligence/machine learning, manufacturing informatics and life-cycle simulation.

1st CDT cohort engage in team building

The Materials 4.0 CDT kicked off in October with our first training week. Hosted at the Royce Hub Building in Manchester, it brought together the six students from our Cohort 1 for the first time.
